About me
I am now the 1st year M.S. student in Bioinformatics, studying in Brown's lab. I majored Ecology in undergraduate. I am interested in enteric microbiota, especially the interactions of the different species and the relations between them and their host.
Projects
1. Image analysis (current )
Do the relationship exit which between the death rate of C.elegans and the pathogen load in the nematode's lumen? These nematodes were infected by GFP-tagged bacteria, then photos were captured by camera in real time. Now I am trying to build a model with Julia to analyze these images, track the nematodes and measure the fluorescence intensity and area. This model will be used to predict the load of the pathogen in real time.
2. Phylogenetic model
Bruguiera, one genus of the family Rhizophoraceae, which have 4 species and 2 hybrids. They are mangrove plants live along the coast. We sequenced the chloroplast DNA and nuclear DNA from the different colonies of the whole Bruguiera, which along the coast of West Indo-West Pacific region. By comparing these sequences, we found the key single-nucleotide polymorphism(SNP), and built the phylogenetic model and geographical model of the genus Bruguiera. This result could reflect the division of this genus, identify the parental species of the hybrids, even we could infer a shelter of Ice Age.
