About me

Hello! My name is Tianze Song, you can also call me Simon if you want. Before came to Georgia Tech, I did my undergraduate study on Biological Science in Fudan University, Shanghai. During my junior and senior year, I have investigated the temperature effectiveness on microbial sensitivity and community change in Zoige wetland as well as direct interspecies electron transfer between syntroph and methanogen in Dr. Yahai Lu's lab

As a PhD student in Dr. Joel Kostka's lab now, my main area of interest is microbial activity in peatland, especially its effect on global warming and vice versa. The report of IPCC has indicated that nearly one third of the greenhouse gas comes from wetland, which plays a role in global warming. I am interested in anerobic oxidation and methanogensis in peatland area and how will them respond to global warming. Also, it is significant to find out the mechanism of increase of greenhouse gas release into the atomosphere and set up a model to predict its change with temperature.
