About
I am a Bioinformatics masters student at Georgia Tech. I am currently working in the Hammer Lab where the organism of focus is the cholera causing pathogen Vibrio cholerae. Previously, I was a trainee at Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Biotechnology where I received an introduction to basic Bioinformatics techniques and programming languages. I got my Bachelor's degree in Biotechnology at SRM University, India, where my research was focused on the molecular mechanism of neonatal sepsis.
Projects at Hammer Lab
1. Understanding VgrG – effector pairs: A bioinformatics approach:
I am currently working to computationally characterize the type VI secretion system (T6SS) tip protein VgrG based on several physical and biological parameters. This is to understand the rules behind the types of effectors that can be accommodated in the tip protein.
2. ACDs in Human gut microbiome:
I will also be working on identifying the abundance of human gut residents with T6SS VgrGs containing Actin Cross-linking domains, and investigating their possible role in inducing gut peristalsis.
