Biography

Scott Sammons is a Science Officer in the Office of Advanced Molecular Detection at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. In this role, Scott manages projects, coordinates technology user groups, provides bioinformatics support, and manages bioinformatics resources at the CDC. Before starting at the CDC, Scott was the director of the Biomolecular Computing Resource (BIMCORE) at Emory.

The demand for sequencing and analysis at the CDC is growing at staggering rate, and the experience that Scott brings to the table is an extremely valuable resource. Scott is currently working on adding to the bioinformatics workforce at the CDC by increasing storage and computing capacity. His work is paving the way for bioinformatics to play a larger role in the field of public health.
